DCDD: Pride in Concert
D.C.’s Different Drummers proudly announces their upcoming April 6th performance by the Capitol Pride Symphonic Band, featuring compositions inspired by the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and the LGBT Rights Movement that grew from them. They are also excited to announce a new collaboration, with a special guest as our master of ceremonies from the Capital Pride Alliance.
D.C.’s Different Drummers show “Pride in Concert” will feature compositions taking inspiration from the colors of the rainbow, with each piece evoking a color on the LGBT Pride Flag. A concert repertoire is attached. They are very excited about this conceptual show, intended to complement the many events taking place in the National Capital Region this June to showcase the 50th anniversary, and to showcase the original qualities the LGBT Pride Flag was intended to symbolize.
D.C.’s Different Drummers will proudly welcome the Capital Pride Alliance as our Master of Ceremonies. The Capital Pride Alliance works to create and support diverse programming and events, specifically year-round LGBTQ+ Pride festivities in the National Capital Region. Capitol Pride serves to celebrate, educate, support, and inspire the multi-faceted LGBT community in order to grow and preserve LGBT history and protect LGBT rights for current and future generations. DC’s Different Drummers has been a Pride Partner with Capital Pride for many years, including many performances in the Capital Pride Parade, festival, and related events. This concert will be a prime opportunity to highlight the ways in which two LGBT groups with seemingly different focuses can collaborate, learn from one another, and demonstrate the true diversity of interests and skill-sets in the LGBT community.
